Smi-Sma-Smilodon by BloodhoundOmega Smi-Sma-Smilodon by BloodhoundOmega
Smilodon Fatalis is a name for felines, that equals Max Power for humans. XD

Another small piece for AC, hence the lack of details, I guess. It hurts my hand to work on such a scale, when I try to add the same detail to it as to my larger work.

It's been ages since I last drew a sabretooth tiger... 10 years or so. They are such spiffy creatures though. :D

Inspired by the art of the incredible :iconbalaa:

Did you color this with color pencil and watercolor or markers? Beautiful and stunning artwork as always. The composition is wonderful, and your fur detail looks impossible. :XD: You amaze me.

Ich mag den Übergang des Himmels von blau nach orange - das Raubkätzchen gefällt mir natürlich auch sehr gut :D

Vor allem bei einer so kleinen Größe hätt ich selber die Colo gar net so schön hinbekommen ..

LG

I was going to say "why had I never seen this one before?!" but of course I then saw you just posted it up! I adore the markings on this fellow, they flow magnificently well with his body and I could easily imagine a smilodon having these very sam markings :D!

AND the fact that inspired something ..anything...especially something so striking and powerful...humbles me. Thank you so very much..and hey will you be attending ac or just mailing in your art? eiher way it will be grand to see your work in person :D!

Thehe... I was hiding him maliciously so you may never find him, but oh noes! How have I failed! D:

I picked out several references from the net (among them two of your pieces) and I tried to blend those features I liked the most of all them together in one piece. Some had no markings at all, some dots only, others king-cheetah like stripes and then again others had really complex patterns. It's really interesting and leaves a lot of space open for experimenting. ^^

*headbutts* You, my lady, are an incredible source of inspiration all the time! Your art blows my mind and makes me want to go on and on and improve what I can even more.

Sadly it will be another two years or so before I can think of attending AC in person. *sighs* So it's mailing my art in only.

Love it :). I love felines and I love prehistoric creatures so this makes the perfect combination XD.

Though I can't help but notice you tend to stick to the 'anthro' anatomy on the back legs :3. It's not a bad thing, it looks good, big and muscular XD. But if you were aiming for realism they might've been a bit more slender :).

Yes, I do that because a species of canines I invented uses to shift from four-legged to two-legged stance with their legs being like that. Sadly I tend to use that anatomy on all other ferals as well. ;_;

I wanted the tiger look compact and like an embodyment of strenght, that's why I made his limbs and body almost exaggerated beefy.

Beefyness is good XD. It was just the hind legs ;).

Other than that it's a really neat big cat ^^.

*nods* Very possible. I don't know why, but I have the tendency to draw too small heads on ferals and too large heads on two legged critters. O.o

I also had to start the sketch over about eight times before it started looking decent. XD

My constant mistake is that I make the paws to weird and flat=) And I usually start the sketch over 10 times not to mention all the corrections I make=D
